Recreational Skippers Ticket
The RST has been introduced by the Department for Planning and Infrastructure to ensure that people in charge of recreational vessels have the basic knowledge and practical skills needed for the safety of themselves, passengers and all other users of Western Australian waterways.
The RST is a certificate of competency, not a licence. It is purely about demonstrating the minimum knowledge and practical skills needed to operate a boat safely on the water. It is based on a set of marine safety competencies that have been agreed nationally. The assessment of these competencies will be in two sections: theory and practical. Marine Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency Courses” (MROCP) and (MROVCP)
Both Marine Radio Operators VHF Certificate of Proficiency (MROVCP) and the more extensive Marine Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency (MROCP), which includes MF/HF, are run concurrently. The courses are run over five nights with the Examination on the sixth. If a member wishes to become an active volunteer after the completion of the course (MROCP only) the cost of the course will be refunded after a qualifying period.
