About the RVSRG.

Where We Are In 2009.

Over the years the group has grown to a membership base of 450, 74 of whom are active in managing the group, skippering and crewing the boats, and of course, manning our radios and telephones 24 hours a day, 7 day a week, 365 day a year.

The duty crew man our rescue boats and are on stand-by for a period of 24 hours, with crews rotating over a 7 day period, 365 days a year, operating out of our modern building located at Point Peron. We also have administration staff who perform a variety of duties throughout the week, all of the above are volunteers.

Qualified members offer courses, including the Marine Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency (MROCP); Recreational Skippers Ticket (RST); National Powerboat Handling Scheme Certificate and others.

The future

aims of the

RVSRG.

With the arrival of the Jaimee Lee, to replace the outdated Alpha1, the RVSRG is now focusing on the replacement of Bravo1, with a state of the art 8 meter Naiad, to be utilized as a backup fast response vessel for the Jaimee Lee.

The RVSRG is committed to providing the boating community of the City of Rockingham and Districts, with the best volunteer sea rescue service possible.

Our future aim is, and always will,

" to be the centre of excellence in Sea Rescue".

Our commitment to you, the boating community of Rockingham and districts

If you are over due we will always:

  • call you every 10 minutes on your recorded frequency.

  • at ETR plus 30 minutes contact the water police.

  • continue to call you every 10 minutes on working and distress channels.

  • on request of the water police, conduct a ramp search for your registered vehicles.

  • continue to work closely with the water police until you have been located.

We will never:

  • leave you at sea, without adequate coverage, or

  • take you off our log until you have logged off safely.

Our radios are manned from 0600 hours to 2200 hours (during summer) and from 0700 hours to 1800 hours (during winter) 7 days a week, and our phones are manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
